Immediately after his discharge from the United States Air Force in 1973, Chris Buckingham began a formal apprenticeship in cabinetmaking. Over the next few years, he worked at various cabinet shops, taking on nearly every role, from manufacturing to purchasing to design to production management. Throughout his experience, he developed a special talent for building European style cabinets. His skill, and the demand for his quality cabinets, led his employer to convert the entire manufacturing floor to the production of European style cabinets.
In 1989, Chris resigned his position to form a corporation of his own. Canyon Craft Cabinets, Inc. was founded in October of that same year. Chris based his new company on his proven principles of dedication, hard work, and fairness. He succeeded in hiring employees who share the same values. Chris hired three employees to help him get started; two of whom are still employed by him today.
The company began to grow as satisfied customers continued to give referrals to friends and family. Chris managed the steady growth carefully, not allowing any deterioration of the quality of the cabinets or customer service. Canyon Craft Cabinets has gradually expanded to include over twenty employees. Together, they share over 100 years of combined experience in cabinet construction. Many of the employees are children or close friends of Chris; It's important to him that the company continue to be owned and operated by family. But, even more important, each employee is dedicated to maintaining the company's integrity and building customer satisfaction.
